On August 7, 2007, Polytechnic's website featured a news article titled "Exploring the Future: The Possible Merger of New York University and Polytechnic University." This announcement, intended for all members of Polytechnic, introduced the potential merger between Polytechnic University and New York University.

The news article was promptly pinned to the top of the website's news section,. Additionally, a dedicated webpage called "Merger Central" was swiftly created to facilitate discussions among Polytechnic members regarding the merger. This central hub included crucial announcements about the merger's progress, related news updates, and a forum link for Polytechnic students, faculty, and staff to join and engage in discussions.

Remarkably, Merger Central remained active for an extended period, even after Polytechnic officially became affiliated with NYU, underscoring the significance and ongoing impact of this transformative event on the institution's community.

In April 2008, Polytechnic University released the "Overview of the Polytechnic University - New York University Affiliation and Proposed Consolidation Agreement," marking the official beginning of Polytechnic's merger process with NYU. This overview outlined the initial steps of Polytechnic becoming an affiliation of NYU and being renamed as the Polytechnic Institute of NYU.

Prior to September 16, 2008, significant changes were made to Polytechnic's website to reflect this affiliation and renaming. The website's icon was completely replaced by the NYU-Poly logo, signifying the new institutional identity. Furthermore, the title of the webpage was updated to ":: Polytechnic Institute of NYU :: New York's major educational resource in science and technology," aligning with the updated branding and mission of the institution under NYU's umbrella.

One of the most prominent changes was the appearance of the NYU icon at the website header, now bearing the name "POLYTECHNIC SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING," showcasing the integration of Polytechnic into NYU's academic framework.

Additionally, a prominent feature on the website was a large celebratory poster displayed prominently in the middle of the webpage, symbolizing the official merger with NYU and highlighting the shared vision and mission of the newly formed NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering.
